His Strength > My Weakness

"Each time he said, "My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me." 2 Corinthians 12:9

Weakness used to be my nemesis. I would think things like, "Stronger is better." "If I am weak then I get taken advantage of." "Weakness means I can't handle the tough stuff." "No one will find me valuable if I am weak."

But the truth is, God's power is made perfect in my weakness.

This isn't because He is a cruel, dictator of a God. The exact opposite is true, in fact. The reason for this is because He is capable of so much more than I am, and when I surrender my weakness to Him, that's when His power comes - that is when people can see Him at work. There are things we cannot do and if we really want to be light in this world, we have to let God do what He does best.

I want others to see HIM, not me.

When I felt weak, I would try and control everything around me. Control made me feel strong and safe. The problem is, when we try to control everything, fearing our weaknesses, we don't give God any space to work. No one will get to see the healing, the miracles, the power He can do in our your lives.

Maybe you are in a place where you feel like you can't let go of control. Weakness is not something you're interested in because you've been hurt and let down, abused, or taken advantage of. Your circumstances do not change the truth of who God is. He never changes. He will forever and always love, forgive, provide for, protect, and fight for you. He is there even when you can't feel Him and He loves you so much.

We are light-bearers, beloved children of God. Give Him permission to take the weight of your weaknesses, your sin, and your shame, so His power can be revealed and you can live life to the fullest - just like He promises.
